Margot Mason, MA CCC-SLP, sows seeds in tough soils through her unique blend of speech and horticultural therapy.
Over 20 years, she has worked in schools, nursing homes and churches in Phoenix to create functional garden spaces.
Her specialty is working with children, building communication, and social resilience while gardening. She has won the trust of many school principals and staff, with several gardens thriving years after development.
Raised in New Mexico, Margot received a BA in English/ Natural History from Careton College in Minnesota. She worked in Boston’s inner-city schools before obtaining her Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology from Indiana University at Bloomington.
Her Central Phoenix home, dubbed “Sunny Luffa House”, offers permaculture-based water cisterns, greywater dispersal, citrus groves and patios with gabion walls and living roofs. She holds Desert Botanical Garden’s Desert Landscape School certificate and is a Master Gardener.
Margot looks forward to collaborating with others taking root in our arid yet potentially lush social climate. She is available for project consults to improve landscapes while offering gardening skill training to youth.
